Key Issues & Priorities
Standing for Liberty and Local Accountability
Our county deserves leadership rooted in principle — not politics. These are the values and priorities that will guide my decisions as County Commissioner, always grounded in limited government, individual rights, and respect for private property.
Lowering the Burden of Property Taxes
My top priority as County Commissioner is reducing the tax burden on homeowners and ensuring families can afford to stay on their land.
Property taxes in Texas have become a crushing and unpredictable expense. For many families, the tax bill is now the second-largest monthly cost after their mortgage — and appraisal spikes hit homeowners hard, even when the county rate stays the same. Texans shouldn’t be living in fear of the next tax notice.
I believe property ownership is a cornerstone of freedom. You shouldn’t have to rent your own home or land back from the government every single year.
As County Commissioner, I will make this issue my highest priority by committing to:
- Never raising the county property tax rate — not now, not ever.
- Actively working to reduce the county tax rate year after year by cutting waste and tightening the county budget.
- Expanding local homestead, senior, disabled, and veteran exemptions to give homeowners immediate relief.
- Pursuing exemptions and reforms that move us toward eliminating county property taxes for homesteaders — so families can truly own their homes without fear of being taxed out.
- Bringing full transparency and accountability to the Appraisal District, including oversight of its budget and appointments, to ensure fairness and responsible management.
- Advocating at the state level for long-overdue appraisal reform, while refusing to let county tax rates rise in the meantime.
Texans deserve predictable, stable, and affordable homeownership — not a perpetual lease with the government. I’m running to protect your property, reduce your taxes, and make our county a place where families can build a future without being priced out of it.
